Giants Vs. Cardinals

I turned the tv on today and it was on the Giants and Cardinals game. It was tied 3 to 3 on the top of the 9th with the Cardinals batting and the bases were loaded with 2 outs. The batter grounded out and it was the Giants turn to bat. The first batter made it to first base for a single. The second batter struck out. The third batter took 4 balls and walked. The 4th batter hit a 3 run walkoff homerun. The Giants made it to the World Series to go against the Royals. Go Royals!

Kobe's Back On the Court

It is nice to see Kobe back on the court. I know it is only preseason, but I haven't seen him play since last year. He isn't as good as he was 10 years ago, but he is still very good. He is only ranked at 40th best in the NBA right now. It doesn't sound so right. As long as Kobe is healthy, he will prove them wrong this season.

Byron Scott, the head coach for the Lakers, and Kobe were discussing Kobe's minutes on the court for the future. Kobe is the leader on the team and can basically say if he wants to sit out or still be on the court. He did that a couple years ago to make it to the playoff. Kobe barely sat down that year, and his consequence was getting injured. You have a higher chance of getting injured when you're on the court a substantial amount of time every game. Especially if you are in your mid 30's.

Kobe and Byron Scott couldn't get to a conclusion yet. He'll definitely sit down more than the season a couple years ago. They made it to the playoffs that year. It wasn't a great post season though because Kobe was out. The Spurs swept the Lakers 4 games to 0.

Dodgers Postseason

The Dodgers didn't do so good this postseason. They only managed to get 1 win out of 4 games against the Cardinals. The Cardinals won every game except for the 2nd game. Every game that the Dodgers lost was messed up either by the starting pitcher or the bull pin in the 7th inning. Kershaw didn't play so well in the postseason. he only lost 3 games in the whole season and he lost 2 in the postseason.

Yasiel Puig did horrible in the postseason. He had a 8 straight strike outs in a row this series. Puig had to sit down the last game. The manager didn't want him to play. He is a really good player, it just didn't show this postseason. Andre Ethier took his place on the last game. He wasn't much of an impact.

Clayton Kershaw did great in both games until the 7th inning. My guess is that his pitch count was too high. The first game, we were up 6 to 2. Then the Cardinals scored 8 points in the seventh. We caught up in the end, but still lost. The end results were 10 to 9.

The second game, we did great. Zach Greinke was the starting pitcher and pitched a solid game. He also got 2 hits in the game as a batter. Most pitchers aren't good at batting, but Zach Greinke is good. He played until the 7th inning because the Dodgers manager didn't want him to get tired. They put in a middle reliever. The middle reliever did bad and gave up a 2 run homerun in the seventh which tied it. Matt Kemp stepped up to the plate on the bottom of the 8th inning and hit a homerun to give us back the lead. We won this game.

Hyun Jin Ryu was the starting pitcher for the 3rd game. He didn't do so bad before the seventh. He only gave up one run, which was a solo home run by Matt Carpenter. Then, in the seventh inning, Colten Wong got a 2 run homerun to give the Cardinals a 2 run lead. The Dodgers lost this game 3 to 1.

Clayton Kershaw played game 4 in an elimination game. He did great in the game until the 7th inning once again. He held the Cardinals to 0 runs until the seventh inning while we had 2. Than Matt Adams, the Cardinals first baseman, hit a 3 run homerun to give the Cardinals the lead. The Dodgers lost in the NLCS against the Cardinals for the second straight year.

Reindeer Hunt

I went hunting last week in school. The high school students went hunting. Hunting was an activity for Bering Sea Days. We hunted for reindeer. We were hunting in St. Paul Island Alaska.

Bering Sea Days is a week of science. All kinds of science is going on like dissecting, studies about endangered species, climate change, hunting, etc. A lot of scientists would fly to St. Paul to teach us  about our island. The scientists also like to come over here because they like the nature of St. Paul. We have different types of animals on this island. We have the biggest population of seals, a lot of sea birds, and reindeer.

We went on a high vantage point to find the reindeer. Once we found it, we went as close to them as possible by car. We had to walk, crawl, and crouch for a mile. We had to hold a backpack full of knives, warm clothing, and food. It takes a long time to get to the reindeer.

Once we get close enough to the reindeer, which is about a hundred yards away, you look for a nice reindeer to get. There was about 350 reindeer in a circle. It is hard to just focus on one reindeer when they are all moving. It takes a while to kill one because they have to be a little farther out of the group.

When the adult shot at the reindeer, he missed. He rattled the reindeer a little. When they got rattled, they moved about ten yards away from the shooter. There was a fawn that was out of the group and ran towards the group. The shooter shot it right below the ear.

You want to get a fawn or a yearling instead of an aged reindeer. You want a fawn or a yearling because the meat wouldn't taste so gamey compared to the old reindeer. You have to think about that kind of stuff before you shoot at a reindeer. Also, you don't want the reindeer to get scared and run when you shoot. You don't want them to run because they would build lactic acid inside their body and spoil the meat.

When the shooter killed the reindeer, we went over to cut it up. We cut from the butt hole to the neck. We did that so we can take the insides out like the stomach, lungs, intestines, and all that stuff. We had to be careful when we cut the stomach out because one poke with a knife will break the stomach open. That would spoil the meat. We also cut the head off.

After we were done cutting up the reindeer, we put it in a tobagan and dragged it a mile to the road. We had to go over steep hills and sand. We finally made it to the road and took a van in-town. We were happy that we got a reindeer with this group because it is hard to get a reindeer with a big group.

When we made it in-town, we hung the reindeer up by his legs in a shed. We had it hung up for three days. After the three days, we came back to the reindeer and rubbed vinegar all over the reindeer. We did this to clean the blood and fur off of the reindeer. After all of this, we cut off the fat. Then we cut the reindeer up in quarters.

The next day, we cooked the reindeer in the school kitchen. We smoked the reindeer and made jerky. Also, we grounded up the reindeer and gave a burger size to everyone who hunted to cook the burger themselves at their houses. We gave out about 20 pounds of ground meat. The last thing that we did was sauté the heart. Our tummies were full of delicious reindeer after.
